Countertops

Cabinets are a great start to a magnificent kitchen, but they’re only a part of the bigger picture. The right countertops help complete the look of your kitchen and provide much-needed working surfaces. We design with most types of countertop materials, including:

Granite
Along with its durability, the beauty and elegance of natural stone is unsurpassed by any other material.

  • Granite can withstand heat up to 1800 degrees.
  • The porosity of stone varies but with minimal care staining is not an issue.
  • It can be used as a cutting board, but it is not recommended as it will dull your knives. Only carbide, diamond or another piece of granite can scratch your tops.
  • Granite comes in a wide range of colors to match any décor and compliment any cabinetry.
  • Since granite is a natural product with variation, we recommend viewing the actual slabs to be used in your project prior to installation.

Quartz Surfacing
Quartz surfacing is a product that consists mainly of quartz mixed with color pigments and binders. This process results in a more uniform pattern.

  • The process results in an extremely hard, durable, non-porous surface which is fabricated in much the same way as granite.
  • There are only three other materials harder than quartz–topaz, sapphire and diamond.
  • Since it is a non-porous surface it does not require any sealers.
  • It can withstand limited exposure to heat.

Solid Surface
One of the easiest products to maintain, solid surface countertops create a seamless-looking work surface.

  • The color is the same all the way through the material.
  • Resists stains because liquids can’t penetrate the nonporous surface.
  • Very easy to clean. Due to its antiseptic quality, it is one of just a few products approved for use in commercial kitchens and hospital operating rooms.
  • Comes in a wide variety of colors.
  • Sinks of the same material can be installed to create a seamless look.

Wood
A product which more typically has been used for desk and hutch tops, wood is becoming more frequently used in kitchen island tops as well as vanity tops.

  • The natural beauty of solid wood is typically used to compliment the color of the cabinetry.
  • Although well finished and sealed, care needs to be taken with regard to water and scratching.
  • Wood can be stained in a wide range of colors.

Stainless Steel
One of the most durable of products, stainless is well suited for a more contemporary look.

  • May be used as a hot plate.
  • A very easy product to clean, and due to its antiseptic quality, it is one of only a handful of products approved for use in commercial kitchens and hospital operating rooms.
